About Us

State Forest Research and Training Institute (SFRTI) is a multidisciplinary team of experts conducting research on tropical forests and forestry. This Institute has contributed significantly to Training and research in tropical forestry and biodiversity conservation over the past fifteen years of its existence. Founded in 2007, Institute is envisioned as a Research and Training Centre of Excellence in Tropical Forestry to provide scientific support for decision making on matters related to forestry, with particular emphasis on conservation, sustainable utilization and scientific management of natural resources.
SFRTI undertake research and consultancy programmes for national and international agencies on the issues relating to biological conservation and management of natural resources. SFRTI has supported by a strong team of skilled and qualified man power in various areas including documentation, accounting, administration, engineering etc.
The institute is located at Raipur in a lush green campus spread over a sprawling area of about 63 ha. It houses a rich infrastructure of various research and experimental plots, research nursery, ornamental nursery, clonal nursery, medicinal and aromatic plants nursery, seasonal garden, mist-chambers, shade-net houses, poly houses, bambusetum, tissue culture, The administrative block, houses fully renovated state of soil testing laboratories, conference halls, lecture room, museum, herbarium, auditorium, library and documentation centre. The hostels and officers rest house provides furnished accommodation. The institute also provides residential accommodation to its employees inside the campus. ​ `
